SYNOPSIS

In a small northern English town, Mihalis, a Cypriot immigrant, owns a traditional fish and chip shop. His business, "Mr. Cod," has been run by his only son, Andy, who has always dreamed about taking over the business and expanding it.

He finds his dream about to come true when his father offers him the chance to prove himself worthy while he goes abroad. However, as soon as Mihalis is gone, things start to go terribly wrong.

After trying to implement changes to his father’s system, Andy watches the staff walk out on him, leaving him alone and desperate. Faced with this dilemma, he sees no other choice than to take on his cousin’s idea of employing illegal immigrants.

To his dismay, he gets stuck with an unusual group, who only speak broken English. Andy’s life, already in turmoil, is not made easier by his workers’ slow pace and embarrassing encounters with the bigoted community.

To complicate things further, the old staff, infuriated that a bunch of foreigners have stolen their jobs, demands for them back.

In retaliation, they report him to the immigration services. Tipped off before the immigration arrives, Andy and his immigrants unite together to fool them. The former employees, still bent on revenge, utilize some shady connections to arrange a robbery that will set Andy back.

In a bizarre encounter, Andy and his new found allies manage to foil the robbery attempt. Everything seems to be going smoothly. Introducing exotic dishes supplied by his new and supportive staff, Andy renames the shop and basks in his success; he is certain he will impress his father with his ingenuity.

That is, until the immigration department raids the shop unexpectedly as Andy’s father turns up to witness the chaos.

Presently, the script is undergoing drafting with an industry script editor.

The film is being made in order to be exploited financially through the annual film markets.
